Challenge Accepted: Look Younger Despite the Damaging Effects of The Sun!

The challenge: protection against premature ageing. Like it or not, your skin is beginning to show signs of age... Collagen production is slowing down, causing a slight loss of firmness and the first signs of crow's feet. So when summer arrives, you need to make sure these early signs of ageing don't go into overdrive.

The solution: Keep your sunglasses to hand, to protect the delicate eye contour area from the damaging effects of the sun. Apply a suitable sunscreen that contains long-lasting UVA filters. UVA is particularly aggressive, deeply penetrating the skin and altering its composition, so protection is a must. For maximum effect, re-apply every two hours and after swimming.

The challenge: stopping wrinkles from deepening. As we approach middle age, cellular renewal slows down further. Wrinkles increase and become deeper, our skin loses firmness and our facial contours blur. So the last thing we need is for the sun to make matters worse!

The solution: First and foremost, limit your exposure to the sun, particularly between 2pm and 4pm, when its rays are at their strongest. Apply a sunscreen packed with anti-ageing ingredients that will protect you and fight against signs of ageing skin. And at night, slather on an after-sun treatment to repair any sun-kissed skin.

The challenge: reduce age spots. At 50, liver spots appear, mainly on our faces, hands and cleavage. Some are inevitable; as our skin cells age, they get out of kilter and produce these clusters of melanin; but an excess of liver spots results from too much or repeated sun exposure.

The solution: Combat this pigment problem by applying an anti-age spot treatment that contains a high SPF. This will protect the skin from UV rays and inhibit the melanogenesis process (the production of melanin by melanocytes). This will lessen the appearance of liver spots and curb the emergence of new ones.
