Why use thermal water in your beauty regime

Move over moisturisers and serums, thermal water is the next big thing in the world of skincare. But what exactly is thermal water and how does it help your skin? Keep reading to find out.

What is thermal water?

Thermal waters stem from underground sources. They're naturally heated and enriched with minerals and trace elements that they harness from the rocks around which they circulate. Each thermal water has its own properties, depending on the geological source from which they derive. Usually bicarbonate-sulphur-sodium-chloride in composition, they are classified according to their mineral salt content. What they do have in common is a compatibility with skin's physiological balance, meaning they are perfectly suited to the most sensitive of skins.

How does thermal water help?

As a spa therapy, thermal water can ease rheumatic pain, respiratory disorders, and digestive problems as well as soothe skin. In other words, you can drink or soak in thermal water! When applied to skin, it calms irritation and redness, while soothing sensitive and atopic skin. Depending on its composition, thermal water can help strengthen skin, increase its tolerance, work as a protective barrier and combat oxidative stress.

How to use thermal water?

Use a mild cleanser like the White Perfect Milky Foam Facewash by L’Oréal Paris to clean your face of any oil, sweat, and dirt. The tourmaline gemstone & vitamin C in the facewash remove excess sebum and dead skin cells and boost skin radiance. After the cleanse, mist your face with thermal water for a refreshing wake-up call. At night, after cleansing, replace your toner with thermal water to get rid of any remaining grime.

And if you want to hydrate your dry skin at any time of day, just give it a light mist. Thermal water also sets make-up and evens out skin tone. It replenishes minerals lost by sweating after a workout, soothes skin after hair removal and calms sunburn. It's a fantastic, all-in-one, beauty routine first-aider that we should all stock in our bathrooms!
