Lemons - A Fruity Route To Perfect Skin!

Lemons are not just great for your food and drinks but are also amazing for your skin. Lemons have been a popular ingredient in skin care because of their brightening, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. But the benefits of lemons don’t just stop there. Read on to know more about the different ways lemons benefit your skin and how you can incorporate it in your skin care routine.

Banish spots

If your skin is acne-prone, include lemon juice in your routine. It's a powerful astringent with antibacterial properties. Rich in vitamin C or ascorbic acid, lemon juice works as an astringent that dries out acne, helping to prevent spots. How? Easy as pie - just dip a cotton pad in some freshly squeezed lemon juice (organic if possible). Dab it on to your spots and leave overnight. If you've got sensitive skin, just leave it to work for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse it off. Doing this daily will leave your face clean, smooth and grime-free.

Even out skin tone

Lemon juice is able to purify skin and close pores. Its citric acid content works as an exfoliant that gently peels away dead skin cells. You can mix it with sugar to get a natural face scrub that will even out your skin tone and leave your complexion glowing. Mix lemon juice and sugar until you get a smooth paste. Gently apply it to your face and neck using circular movements. Leave it for a few minutes and rinse off with warm water. The result? Closed pores and an even complexion.

Draw out blackheads

Lemon's healing, antibacterial properties make it great for zapping blackheads caused by blocked pores. Before heading to bed, apply lemon juice with a cotton pad to areas that need to be treated - the T-zone is often troublesome (forehead, nose, and chin). Leave it to dry and rinse it off in the morning (unless you have sensitive skin!).

Smooth away wrinkles

Vitamin C is necessary for collagen production, making lemon juice an effective wrinkle-buster. Bursting with antioxidants, it kills off free radicals and brightens skin. For a 100% natural treatment, whip up an anti-wrinkle mask by mixing 3 tablespoons of honey with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply it to your face and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Purify oily skin

Lemon's astringent action is excellent for oily skin! Toning lemon juice cleans skin, closes pores, dries out spots and unifies our complexion. Used once a week as a face mask, it deals with excess sebum. Just mix the juice from 1/2 lemon with a teaspoon of green clay, a tablespoon of honey and a drop of water to get a smooth paste. Apply, leave for 5 minutes and rinse. Your skin will be left squeaky clean and its sebum production brought under control.
