A Summer Skincare Routine To Follow Before Hitting The Beach
Summer is just around the corner, and that just means one thing – it is finally beach season! Whether you are planning a weekend getaway with boo or have a girls’ trip planned, one thing is for sure – you need to establish a beach skincare routine with salicylic acid for your skin to protect and nourish it. The sun, sand, and water are all great for your mind and soul but can wreak havoc on your skin. Here is a summer skincare routine you should follow to have fun in the sun without any worry –
1. Skipping sunscreen is a sin
Before stretching out on a sandy beach, make sure you apply a sunscreen. Apply a lotion, oil or mist every two hours and after swimming. Tempting though it may be, avoid exposing your skin between midday and 3pm, when the sun is at its brightest. Go for an SPF between 30 to 50 to protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Such a sunscreen would be a perfect addition to your beach skincare routine as it would shield your skin from the sun, control and absorbs excess oil and protects your skin from pollution micro-particles.
2. Scrub away
When your beach trip is a just a couple of weeks away, use a scrub twice a week. It will brighten your complexion by getting rid of dead skin cells that dull and suffocate the skin. The result? You skin will be glowing and smooth. Note – do not rub too hard, you will damage your skin. Also remember to moisturise to prevent dryness post-scrub. If you have sensitive skin that is easily aggravated, ditch the physical scrubs for an essence with salicylic acid instead. What is salicylic acid you ask? Salicylic acid for sensitive skin acts as a chemical exfoliant that purifies your skin from deep within. To use salicylic acid after a beach day, try the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro Essence. This essence with salicylic acid penetrates up to 10 skin layers deep* and accelerates skin renewal and mildly exfoliates and refines pores and skin texture. Add a few drops of the Crystal Micro Essence to your face to get a radiant and crystal-clear complexion.
3. Pay attention to what you eat
There is no two ways about it; hitting the beach means an onslaught of skin damage. And while salicylic acid products for skin are a great way to hydrate it, to prepare the skin as best you can, you should opt for foods rich in beta carotene, omega 3 and vitamin E. Fill your plate with carrots, spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, salmon, tuna and vegetable oils. All of them will fortify your skin; though that doesn't mean you can skip the SPF! Essential fatty acids are crucial for bolstering the skin. They'll prevent it from drying out in the sun and will prepare it for the onslaught of UV rays. Supplements containing selenium, alongside vitamins A, C and E, are also good bets.
4. Get some exercise in
Instating some toning exercises such as squats and star jumps daily will make a huge difference to tone, helping you to look - and feel - better on the beach. Try getting in the routine of doing at least 15 minutes every day to see real results.
5. Prep your skin for the sun
After months of being covered up, slowing exposing your skin to the sun, little by little, is key. A few days before hitting the beach, soak up some rays by walking or eating outdoors, or taking small breaks on the lawn or in a park. Just don't forget your SPF!
6. Pack up some post-beach skincare products
Post beach skincare is just as important – it helps soothe and calm your skin after you’ve spent all day under the blazing sun. After you have taken a relaxing shower to wash away all the sand and seawater, treat your skin to gentle, hydrating ingredients that will refresh and repair your skin. Cleanse your skin off the impurities and any excess oil/sebum produced because of the humidity on the beach, without drying it! A product that can do exactly that, is the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Gel Cleanser, which gently cleanses the skin with it’s ultra-thin, and creamy foam! This face wash plumps up and hydrates the skin right in the first wash!
While we do not recommend using a scrub on your skin post a trip to the beach, it is important to gently exfoliate dead skin cells from your face to get smoother and softer skin. Using A sheet mask is a great way to mildly exfoliate your skin without doing any damage. And give your skin an extra boost of hydration with the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro Essence Sheet Mask. With the power of one bottle of essence in one mask and 30x absorption power**, the facial essence in the sheet mask leaves your skin feeling refined, hydrated, and smoother in just 15 minutes. After treating your skin to the benefits of salicylic acid with the Crystal Micro Essence, rebalance your skin with this sheet mask and lock in the moisture!
By following these simple pre and post beach skincare tips, you can protect your skin from the elements while you are at the beach.
