Say No To Dull Looking Skin

Say No To Dull Looking Skin

It is around the age of 50 that the biological condition of our skin alters, following hormonal changes associated with the menopause. The skin is less toned and hydrated, wrinkles are more pronounced and the epidermis is thinner. The problem lies with cell renewal, which diminishes appreciably at around age 50. This causes a drop in the production of collagen and elastin as well as a slowing down of the micro-circulation. This leads to a decreased input of nutrients essential to the vitality of cells, but also to a decrease of the colour component of the skin, the very same one that gives it a healthy look. Skin therefore becomes pale, almost transparent, and it loses its natural blush as the complexion fades.

Mature skin obviously has very different needs to young skin. Most importantly, it needs to compensate for the loss of water by restoring the lipid layer of the skin. It also needs to be able to stimulate cell renewal to regain its radiance. We must therefore apply treatments that allow for action on both fronts.

To counteract the loss of firmness and radiance, use anti-aging products that fight the effects of ageing on multiple fronts. The best creams are nourishing and stimulating to fight the problems of dry and dehydrated skin, activate the production of collagen and elastin, and boost cell renewal to balance facial volume. Most multi-action products also contain rich complexion enhancing ingredients such as peony, and should be applied daily; morning and evening; to the face, neck and décolletage. Say farewell to that grey, sallow look!
