The Golden Rule When Out In The Sun Protect your Eyes
The eyes are fragile organs that constantly hydrate themselves. This is why we blink roughly every 10 seconds, or 10,000 times a day! We're able to do this as the eyelid skin is three times thinner than the rest of the face. Which makes this zone vulnerable to external factors, dryness and the early signs of ageing: being low in collagen, elastin and fat cells, eye-contour skin can quickly dry out.
UV rays are as harmful to our eyes as they are to our skin. Protecting your eyes from the sun is essential, even if you're only outside for a couple of minutes. Bear in mind that protection levels differ, depending on the sunglasses you choose: 80% of sunlight will pass through clear or slightly tinted lenses, while very dark lenses will provide a better block. Give trendy pink or blue lenses a miss: they may be cool, but they won't protect your eyes. Opt for sunglasses that are EC compliant: this is a mandatory European guarantee that meets strict criteria regarding protection from UVA and UVB rays. Something to remember if you usually pick up a pair of sunnies from the local street market.
The eye contour area can easily dry out, causing the appearance of wrinkles and crow's fee, so apply a specific treatment morning and night, to nourish and moisturise this delicate zone. In the morning, apply one that includes an SPF for optimal protection. At night, opt for a treatment rich in glycolic acid, vitamin E and provitamin B5 (panthenol): these will keep the eye contour hydrated for longer to combat dry skin.
