Skin Care Summer's Over and It's Time to Get in Shape

You had a lovely summer vacation and enjoyed the warm sunshine with your friends and family. You spent your days soaking up the sun and splashing in the water on the beach. You had a beautiful picnic out in the park and spent your afternoon running around and playing games. But the harsh summer sun and damaging salty water can wreak havoc on your skin and hair. Now that summer is over, here are a few ways to restore the health of your skin and hair.

1. Problem

You have been showing off a lovely golden tan, a flawless complexion, and clear skin all summer long. You are hoping it will last, at least till the festive and wedding seasons come around. Sorry to say, but your complexion may need a helping hand to avoid the return of oily skin and spots that will tar your bronzed features.

Solution

The ever trustworthy exfoliate, purify, and mattify combo! Start with a clean face with no leftover impurities on your face like traces of makeup, dirt, or oil. You can use a gentle cleanser like the L’Oréal Paris Micellar Water. This micellar water removes all toxins from your face while also hydrating and softening your skin. The L’Oréal Paris Micellar Water cleans your face without using water and requires no harsh rubbing.

Once your face is all clean, apply a fine scrub to your face and exfoliate your skin gently with small circular motions. Rinse your face and pat dry before purifying your skin with a clay face mask to rebalance sebum production. Finally, get rid of all shine by applying a mattifying moisturiser.

2. Problem

You may still be religiously applying your after-sun but to no avail. Your skin feels tight, itchy, and is beginning to look dry.

Solution

A moisturising treatment. If you are not keen on lotions, balms, and creams that ten to feel too sticky or heavy, opt for a dry oil that will quickly penetrate the epidermis. Your skin will feel deliciously smooth, nourished, and moisturised without feeling greasy.

3. Problem

You enjoyed rocking your wavy and sun-bleached hair during summer, but after a while, it can start to feel like dried-out straw. Weeks of sun, salt, and chlorine can leave your hair dry, frizzy, and dull. It also damages the quality of your hair by making it brittle and more prone to breakage.

Solution

If you can't get to the hairdresser's, trim just the ends at home and deeply nourish them with a treatment that contains argan or coconut oil. You can also leave it on as an overnight mask (remember to avoid your roots!). It works wonders to dry and brittle hair and helps bring back the lost shine in your locks.

Even though sunshine in small amounts is necessary for the body, prolonged exposure to the sun can have long-lasting effects on your skin and your hair. Follow these simple tips once summer is over to bring back your skin and hair to its former glory.
