Skin Care Our Skin Care Tips for Dark & Black Skin

Although black skin tends to be more healthy-looking naturally, this doesn't mean it is any less fragile. Extra attention needs to be paid to skincare for dark skin. There are three aims: hydrating, combatting excess sebum and preventing dark spots. Here are our skincare tips.

Nourish Your Skin

Skincare for black skin requires plenty of hydration which can be done in the form of the essential CTM ritual (cleansing, toning and moisturizing) at least twice a day. Take your makeup off every evening with a gentle cleanser like makeup remover milk or micellar water, or a makeup remover oil. It should not be harsh on fragile dark skin. You should avoid soaps or soapy face foam that can make your skin dry. Once a week, exfoliate and scrub off your dead skin with a gentle, non-abrasive scrub. Accumulation of dead cells and impurities often give you a dull complexion. Finish off with a good dose of moisturization. If you do not like to apply creams on your skin, you can use liquid care that has a watery texture to give you a lightweight moisturization. Instead of going for oils or butter, you can try the new L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence that repairs and renews your skin cells to give you a youthful, bright and glowing skin. It contains active ingredients like Salicylic Acid, which accelerates skin renewal & mildly exfoliates to refine pores & skin texture. It penetrates 10 layers deep into the skin and acts both as a light moisturizer and anti-ageing treatment.

Apply Matt Make-up

Often one with black skin worry about the presence of active seborrhea in the skin cells that makes it shiny during the day. For that, you can use a mattified hydrating gel to limit the excess sebum production. If it is still beyond control, you can use makeup to control the shininess. Try the oil-free mattifying foundation, which will absorb the sebum like a blotting paper. Or you can also use a mattifying powder that can be reapplied any number of times during the day.

Do Not Forget Sunscreen

p>Black skin is very rich in melanin, the pigment that colors the skin. Sometimes these melanin cells gather around a skin trauma area like a spot, small scar or scratch, and create a darker patch of skin which looks like a dark spot. To avoid this, you should protect your skin from harmful UV rays and sunburn. Never step out of your house without sunscreen. A sunscreen prevents early ageing, dark spots and dull skin, while also protecting you against harmful UV rays and sunburn. You can try the new UV Perfect Matte & Fresh from L'Oreal which has a fresh and matte finish. It contains mattified kaolin clay that absorbs excess sweat and has been tested in maximum humidity weather for Indian summers. Whether your dark skin is oily or dry, this expert UV protection is suitable for all.
