According to a survey published in the fashion section of The Telegraph, we Brits begin to worry about lines and wrinkles at the tender age of 24! 2,000 women were questioned by data specialists CACI and the results showed that women as young as 21 were beginning to use anti-wrinkle treatments.
Isn't applying anti-ageing treatments during our 20s just a wee bit too soon? Well, it's never too early or too late to start looking after and protecting our skin. The fact of the matter is that our bodies begin to age from 20 onwards - cellular ageing kicks in and there's nothing we can do about it. We can however launch preemptive strikes! We can start to keep signs of ageing at bay by making sure we moisturise our skin. This will help deal with any damage caused by the sun, smoking, nights on the town and junk food. By moisturising, our skin is left protected and and able to renew its cells.
First and foremost, avoid the sun. Even though it can be good for our health, UV rays wreak havoc with our skin and wrinkles are proof enough. If we over do the sunbathing or don't protect our skin, we'll end up with liver spots, wrinkles and other signs of ageing skin. So it's really important to use a sunscreen or moisturiser that contains an SPF. By starting skincare in your 20s, you can delay the signs of ageing skin. However, lifestyle factors also play a part; our skin ages more quickly if we smoke, drink alcohol and succumb to our sugar cravings. In other words, if you want to save wrinkles for another day and keep your baby soft skin for as long as possible, then now's the time to start protecting your skin to the max!
